Calvin grew up as a community builder, working as a volunteer and lead of several advisory councils. From first leading the Mayor's Environmental Council in 2019 and helping to fundraise to develop numerous technologies geared at making city services more sustainable, to representing his grade cohort in student council and coordinating the Calgary Board of Education's largest student-led workshops centered around ethical A.I. usage and mental health.

In 2025, he joined the Mayor's Youth Council as a member of the civic engagement committee to bridge the gap between Calgary's youth and local parliament, helping to launch projects such as Calgary's "Mayor for a Day"

contest, town halls, and Calgary's Civic Toolkit. As a student at North Trail High School, he works to bring events and school spirit to one of the city's newest high school's. His philosophy is in fighting for today's youth and our next generation of leaders and innovators.

He gained a passion in media at a young age where he learned how to design graphics on Microsoft Paint and Google Drawings. His passion took off when his sister-in-law gifted him his first camera, allowing him to better showcase and advertise the events and projects which he ran. From what initially started as a hobby, he sought to use the power of the digital world to raise awareness on important local issues, giving a voice to marginalized groups and voices. His work with non-profits and community organizations landed him several awards and grants.

In 2024, Calvin founded what's called "Corterra" today, a non-profit aimed at supporting local organizations, local businesses, community groups, and other non-profits. Calvin and the Corterra team are on a mission to showcase what makes Calgary the greatest city on Earth!
